Hiram L. Strickler Rites Held Thursday

Services were conducted Thursday afternoon at Ivester Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Walter J. Heisey for Hiram L. Strickler, 80, who died Tuesday. A quartet sang accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Cakerice. Mrs. John Large, Mrs. Millard Moats, Mrs. Walter Daleske and Mrs. Leo Moats were in charge of flowers. Pallbearers were Everett Foster, Leo Moats, Burdett Sherbon, Millard Moats, Merle Sherbon and John Large. Burial was made in Sheller cemetery.

Mr. Strickler was born in Grundy county June 13, 1870. He was married to Myrtie Bruett. To them were born two daughters who reside in Washington. He lived in Minnesota for a time and returned to this vicinity about 12 years ago. He suffered a stroke 13 months ago.

Besides his daughters, he is survived by one brother, J. F. Strickler of Eldora, and three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Moats and Mrs. David Myers of Ivester vicinity and Mrs. H. W. Sherbon of Eldora.

Hiram Strickler Dies In Eldora

Hiram Strickler, who spent most of his life on a farm in Melrose township, died Tuesday morning at his home in Eldora. He had been in failing health for some time. He was 80 years old.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Ivester church with Rev. Walter Heisey officiating. Burial will be in the Sheller cemetery.

Mr. Strickler was born on a farm in Grundy county and spent all of his life in Grundy and Hardin counties, having lived in Hardin county the last 20 years.

He is survived by two daughters living in the state of Washington, a brother, Joe Strickler, and three sisters, Mrs. A. S. Moats, Mrs. Howard Sherbon and Mrs. Dave Meyers, all of Eldora.
