Mrs. E. V. McBroom Dies on Thursday

Mrs. E. V. McBroom died last Thursday at her home in Grundy Center. She had been in failing health the past year. She was a patient in a Waterloo hospital two weeks. While at her home she suffered a heart attack a week before her death. She would have been 83 years old had she lived until next November. She was a resident of Grundy Center 54 years.

Funeral services were held at the Coffman funeral home Saturday and later at the Baptist church. The services were conducted by Rev. Pace, local pastor. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Minnie Amelia Kramme, daughter of Henry and Eliza Kramme, was born Nov. 15, 1867, on a farm in Illinois. As a small child she came to live in Marshall county, Iowa in the vicinity of Laurel, where she grew to womanhood. On Dec. 3, 1889, she was united in marriage to Ed Vinson McBroom in Laurel.

Two years following their marriage they resided in Laurel. From there they moved to Barnes City, Iowa, where they remained until 1896 when they came to Grundy Center where they made their home for the remainder of their lives. She was a member of the First Baptist church, Grundy Center, and was an active member in various women's organizations of the church. Her husband preceded her in death in 1942.

Surviving are two daughters, Ethel F. and Mabel E. Other surviving members of her family are three sisters: Mrs. A. Jones, Gilbert, Iowa; Mrs. Frank Pratt, Des Moines; Mrs. E. W. Fickinger, Allume, Oklahoma. There are many surviving nieces and nephews.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral service were: Mrs. Arthur Jones, Gilbert; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jones, San Francisco; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wakefield and Winifred, Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Corsepius, Ames; Mrs. Marie Kramme, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kramme and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bassarear, Miss Marjorie Kramme, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bassarear, Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Basserear, Miss Pauline Bassarear, Miss Lena Bassarear, L. L. Anderson, Mrs. Court McBroom and Leona, Miss Carrie Neidy, Mrs. Mae Barnes, Terese Feyereisen, Waterloo; Lucy McBroom and Mrs. Hill, Kellog, Iowa; Mrs. R. Conrad, New Providence; Mr. and Mrs. Burton Crane, Cedar Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sandvold, of Coorhead, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mathern, Waterloo.
