Obituary of Mrs. Dewitt Long

Emaline Crouse was born Aug. 13, 1853, in Alleghany county, North Carolina. In 1866 she left the place of her birth and settled in this part of Iowa, where she has resided ever since. April 14, 1871, she was united in marriage to Dewitt Long. To this union were born three children. Haron died at the age of 1 1/2 years. Dewitt Clinton and Anson are living in this community. Her husband passed away in January, 1907. There are also ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister who survive her.

The funeral services were held Sunday at the M.E. church at 2 p.m., Rev. S. Knoer, pastor of the church, officiated. Interment was at the Benson cemetery.

The relatives who attended the funeral from out of town were Mr. E. A. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Orva Williams and Mrs. Fred Orr, of Eagle Grave, Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Gould of Marshalltown, Mrs. Frank St. John and three children of near Ackley; Walter Sweets of Iowa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Long, of near Alden; Geo. and Willie Sweet, Morris Herme and family; John Cowell and family of Eldora; Ezra Long and family of near Union.
