Mrs. Barkhoff Called

Mrs. Fred Barkhoff died at her home in this city at 12 o'clock Nov. 27, 1926. She was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, August 25, 1853.

She was united in marriage to Fred Barkhoff in her native land and came to this country in 1900, settling on a farm in Lincoln township, and came to this city with her husband eighteen years ago where she has made her home ever since.

Nine children were born to this union, three dying in infancy and one daughter died in 1916 at the age of 30 years. Five children are left to mourn her departure: Mrs. August Hartke, Enno Barkhoff, Mrs. George Lupkes, Mrs. Oscar Lupkes and Mrs. M. G. Mamminga, all of Grundy county. Also thirty-six grandchildren, three sisters in this country and one brother in Germany.

Mrs. Barkhoff was a true and faithful follower of the Lord, and a loyal member of College church. She was conscious almost to the end, and was happy to thank that she would soon be released, for her desire was to be with her Lord. She died at the age of 73 years, three months and two days.

Mrs. Barkhoff's devotion to the church and to her faith made her a mother in Israel. May we follow in her footsteps for life will soon ebb away, so that we, too, may be reunited when life's pilgrimage closes.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the College Christian Reformed Church, where words of comfort were were spoken by Dr. F. H. Wezeman and Dr. W. Bode. Interment was in the Grundy Center cemetery beside her husband.
