HEFFELFINGER, COLVIN

Lewis Heffelfinger was born at Westchester, Pa., April 15th, 1855, and died at Estherville, Iowa, Sept. 24, 1926, at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 9 days.

When but a child his family moved to Mt. Carroll, Ill., where they resided until 1867, when they moved to Grundy county, Iowa.

He received his education in the local schools and Penn college at Oskaloosa, after which he taught several terms of school in Grundy county.

He was united in marriage to Mary Belle Colvin March 8, 1883. To this union four children were born, all of whom are living. They are Mrs. C. A. Acheson, Conrad, Montana; Harry Heffelfinger, Marshalltown; Jay Heffelfinger, Iowa Falls; Mrs. G. H. Lesher, Sheldon, Iowa.

The family moved from Grundy county to a farm near Armstrong, Ia., in 1893, where they resided until 1909 when they moved to Estherville, where he was elected Clerk of the District Court of Emmet county, which position he creditably filled for 8 years.

He was made a Mason in 1876. He was an active member of the Blue Lodge, Chapter and Commandry until the time of his death.

Besides his widow and children, he leaves to mourn his death four grandchildren, one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Clara Maffett, Oakland, Calif.; John Heffelfinger, of this city; and Harry S. Heffelfinger of Denver, Colo., and their families.
