Pioneer Dies In Hospital

Dan Snittjer Fails to Recover From Effects of Operation

Daniel Snittjer died in Deaconess hospital at Marshalltown at 11 o'clock Monday. He was taken to the hospital ten days before where he submitted to an operation to get relief from bladder trouble. He appeared to be getting better until the day before the end came. Relatives were summoned to his bedside early Monday morning and they reached there before the patient passed away.

The remains were brought to the home at Wellsburg Monday afternoon. Funeral services are being held at the home at one o'clock this afternoon. Later there will be services at Drake's church where interment will be made.

Mr. Snittjer was one of the early residents of northwest Grundy. He came here fifty-six years ago and located on a farm in Colfax township. He continued to reside there until he retired from farm work and moved to Wellsburg thirteen years ago. There are not many others now living in this locality who were continuous residents here for so many years as Mr. Snittjer.

Mr. Snittjer was born in Germany. He was 69 years and 11 months old at the time of his death. The complete obituary of Mr. Snittjer will be published in the next issue of The Register.
