Obituary of S. A. Mitchell

Samuel Allen Mitchell was born on Feb. 21, 1868, in Boone county, Indiana, and died Aug. 7th, 1926, at his home near Swea City having reached the age of 58 years, 5 months and 16 days. At Vining, Kansas, on Feb. 19, 1893, he was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Nellie Mae Zufall. To this union were born thirteen children, five of whom have preceded their father in death.

The funeral was held at the Christian church at Whitten, Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 2:30, Rev. E. Hignett officiating. Interment was at the Benson cemetery.

There remain to mourn his departure his beloved wife, six daughters, Mrs. Cynthia Rainey of Riverside, Cal., Mrs. Edna Beech of Ionia, Iowa, Mrs. Edith Bolin of Swea City, Mrs. Flossie Bolin of Alden, Mrs. Mildred Coerndt of Gridley, Luetta Mitchell who is at home, two sons, Harry, of Lakota, and James, who also resides at the parental home and eighteen grandchildren. The brothers and sisters are Chas. Mitchell of Granada, Min., John Mitchell of Armstrong, Joe Mitchell of Burdette, Nate Mitchell of Eldora, Omer Mitchell of Whitten, Maria McCloud of Girard, Kans., Lilly St. John of Ackley, Cynthia Giles of Whitten. All his children attended the funeral except Mrs. Rainey of California and Mrs. Coerndt of Gridley. All the brothers and sisters were present at the funeral except John Mitchell of Armstrong and Mrs. McCloud of Gerard, Kans.

Mr. Mitchell was converted and joined the Christian church at Whitten fifteen years ago.
