Mrs. Harm Ries

Mrs. Hilmime Ries, nee Andreesen, was born at Hatshusen, Ostfriesland, Germany, July 15th, 1868, and passed away at her home in this city on Friday evening at six-thirty, May 14, 1926, aged 57 years, 9 months and 29 days.

She was educated and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In the spring of 1895 she came to America and directly to Grundy county.

On October 31st, 1895, she was united in marriage to Harm Ries. To this union one daughter was born, Johanna, who is at home.

After their marriage they moved to their farm southeast of Grundy Center where they resided until 1907 when they moved to this city and have since resided here.

About four weeks ago Mrs. Ries was taken ill with the influenza which later developed into pleurisy which was the immediate cause of her death.

Mrs. Ries was an exceptionally good woman, and she will be greatly missed, not only in the home, but among her wide circle of friends and neighbors by whom she was held in the highest esteem.

She leaves to mourn her departure the husband and one daughter, one sister, Mrs. John Meints, of Holland, and one brother, and latter still living in Germany.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the new Presbyterian church in this city, Rev. H. F. Sinning, pastor of that church, officiating, assisted by Rev. J. E. Drake. Interment was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
