LuAnn Schreck, 57, of Hudson, passed away at her home surrounded by her family while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 27th, 10:30 A.M. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Reinbeck with Father David Kucera officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26th from 3:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home Dike Chapel with a 7:30 P.M. rosary service and for an hour before services at the church. Burial will follow the funeral mass at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Grundy County 4-H or to Cedar Valley Hospice.
LuAnn was born on July 14, 1954 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Wallace & Carol (Storjohann) Freed. She attended school in Reinbeck, graduating from Reinbeck High School in 1972. LuAnn then went on to receive her 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Office Administration at the University of Northern Iowa in 1976. After graduating, she worked at the Reinbeck High School as the school secretary for a short time. LuAnn married John Schreck on July 21, 1978 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. The couple welcomed three children into their family. LuAnn worked as a stay at home mom and also helped on the family's farm.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, was a member of the Black Hawk Creek Saddle Club and was very active in the Grundy County 4-H where she and her husband John were horse superintendents for many years. LuAnn enjoyed lambing & calving on the farm, she enjoyed going to local horse shows but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, especially her grandchildren. She was involved in her family's life every step of the way and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
LuAnn is survived by her husband John of Hudson; children Carrie (Chris) Moorman of Dike, Christie (Ben) Drake of Waterloo and Michael of Hudson; grandchildren Shannon & John Moorman and Aaron Drake; brother Mike (Karen) Freed of Grundy Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
