Martha Cheeseman, 81, of Reinbeck, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center while under the care of Allen Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 26th, 10:30 A.M. at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 25th from 5 to 7 P.M. at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Burial will follow funeral services at the Reinbeck Cemetery.

Martha was born on March 5, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Walter & Marjorie (Mathern) Amidon. She grew up in Omaha, graduating from South Omaha High School with the class of 1948. On August 27, 1948, Martha was united in marriage to Harry Cheeseman in South Omaha. The couple welcomed 4 children into their family. After Martha & Harry were married, they lived in Omaha for 5 years before settling into the Reinbeck area in 1955.

She was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Martha enjoyed singing with the church choir. What she truly enjoyed in life was her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Martha is survived by her husband Harry of Reinbeck; sons Gordon (Nancy) Cheeseman of Des Moines, Walt (Karen) Cheeseman of Grundy Center and Carl (Renee) Cheeseman of Reinbeck; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; twin sister Elizabeth Novak of AZ and brother Charles Amidon of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Kathleen Blecker; sisters Myra Mills & Rachel Sodomek.
