Mrs. Sarah Nichols
Mrs. Sarah Booth Nichols died at her home in Eldora Monday, October 19, 1925, at the age of 75 years. She was born at Mt. Carroll, Ill., on September 26, 1850, where she resided with her parents until the age of seventeen, then coming to Iowa where they settled on a farm in Grundy County.
At the age of 22 she was married to Charles F. Nichols and their married life was spent on a farm near Wellsburg. There are two sons, four daughters, five grandchildren and one aged brother to mourn her loss.
At an early age she became a member of the Bethel Church at Mt. Carroll, Ill., but later in life she joined the Presbyterian church. A number of years before her marriage she was a teacher, having fitted herself for this work in the Frances Shimer Seminary at Mt. Carroll, Ill. The late Herbert Quick, author, was one of her many pupils.
For a number of years after the death of her husband she remained at her old home near Wellsburg but on account of ill health left the farm and came to Eldora where she has been a resident for the past fourteen years.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. R. V. Porter. Burial was made in the Sheller cemetery east of town near her old home.
