George Miller Rowe, son of Benjamin Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Rowe was born at Lancaster county, Penn., Nov. 26, 1856, and died at his home in Beaman Saturday evening, May 23, 1925, aged 68 years 5 months and 27 days. He came to Iowa in 1876 where he met and was united in marriage to Emma Jane Nickerson on December 25, 1883. Following their marriage they resided on a farm in Marshall county for about ten years, when they moved to Beaman, where they have since resided.

To them were born ten children, all of whom are now living. They are: Mrs. Lula E. Eberhardt, of Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. Jennie M. Stull, Benjamin H., Eugene N., Mrs. Daisy M. Sanderson, Mrs. Sophia E. Elliott and Charlie M., of Beaman; Mrs. Ieona F. Williams, of Osceola, Iowa; Eldon D., and Mrs. Muriel I. Weatherman, of Beaman.

He is survived by his wife, ten children, twenty-two grandchildren, nine sisters, and one brother; also one half-brother. Of the family of 18 children of which he was a member 7 have preceded him in death. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces and other near relatives.

He was a member of the Woodman Lodge, of Beaman, and at the time of his death was holding the office of clerk. He was the first mail carrier of Beaman and held this position for a number of years until pensioned by the government.

He was always conscientious in the performance of his duties, a good friend, a loving father and a faithful husband loyal to his home.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon, May 26th, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. J. J. Snyder. Miss Martha Hitchcock, Mrs. H. R. Langley, Messrs. Harry Wilson and Fred Bruene sang. Four nieces carried the flowers. They were Mrs. Bessie Lauffer, of Gladbrook, Mrs. Ethel Nickerson, of Des Moines, Mrs. Lorona Caleman, and Mrs. Myrtie Rowe, of Carlton, Neb. The committal service at Oakland cemetery was performed by the Woodman lodge, six of the members acting as pallbearers: Joe Crombie, F. M. Sarchett, Guy Stull, John Hotopp, Gus Hagberg, Matt Sandstoe.
