Obituary of Mrs. Margaret Isenhour

Margaret McClue was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, on October 30th, 1838, and died at her home in Grundy Center April 4th, 1925, aged 86 years, 5 months and 4 days.

She was married to Washington Isenhour, December 25th, 1856. To this union fourteen children were born. Four of the children died in infancy. The husband and father died in 1920.

The family moved from Pennsylvania to Carroll county, Ill., in 1875 and six years later moved to Grundy county, Iowa, where the family home has been maintained since.

Surviving to mourn her loss are ten children, nineteen grandchildren, and thirty-one great-grandchildren. To this immediate relationship should be added a host of friends, many of them representing the friendships of many long years.

Handicapped by ill health and the loss of her sight for many years, Mrs. Isenhour was seldom seen in public. She nevertheless drew about her an ever increasing circle of friends who loved her for her gentle ways and quiet, kindly influence.

Mrs. Isenhour was a believer in Christ and a member of the Methodist church.

They say she died; it seemed to me
That after hours of pain and strife
She slept one evening peacefully
And woke in everlasting life.

The funeral services were held from the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. George Woodall officiating. Interment was in the family lot in the cemetery west of town.

The following relatives from a distance attended the funeral: Mrs. Emma Kirchenburer, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Fred Morris, Grand Meadow, Minn.; A. J. Isenhour, Saginaw, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Isenhour and son, Minden, Neb.; Owen Isenhour, Hudson, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kirkman, Champaign, Ill.; Mrs. Pirgakus, Iowa Falls; Mrs. Van Chance, Burdette, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Isenhour, Kankakee, Ill.
