Grandpa Becker passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. Getting, at Parkersburg, last Monday afternoon at the age of nearly 89 years. Mr. Becker had been quite poorly for years and had been failing fast of late. The funeral services will be held at Parkersburg this Thursday and the remains will be laid to rest in the cemetery at Pleasant Valley, adjoining the Evangelical church. He leaves to mourn his death three sons and two daughters and their families. One son, John, from near Stout, and a daughter, Mrs. L. Getting, from George, Ia., passed to the great beyond several years ago.

Obituary of John Becker
John Becker was born in Hessen, Germany, April 6, 1836, and died in Parkersburg, Iowa, Feb. 23, 1925, being 88 years, 10 months and 17 days old.
Mr. Becker came to America in 1856, settling on a farm in Illinois. In 1872 he moved to Iowa on a farm in Grundy county, later moving to a farm near Parkersburg.
In 1860 he was married to Miss Matilda Atzbough, who died 32 years ago. After Mrs. Becker's death he lived with his son, Daniel, until six years ago when he went to live with his daughters, six months at a time with each one of them.
Eight children were born to this family, three of them have preceded their father in death. He leaves behind of his family one sister, two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Henry Dingle, of Stout; Mrs. C. H. Getting, George, Charles and Daniel, of Parkersburg.
Funeral services were held in the M.E. church on Thursday at one o'clock, interment in the cemetery thirteen miles west of Parkersburg by the side of his wife. Rev. R. J. Vandervoort had charge of the burial services.
