Ruth A. Rindels, 85, of Grundy Center, formerly of Dike, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dike. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Dike. Memorials may be made to Dike United Methodist Church or Cedar Valley Hospice in Ruth's name.

Ruth Arleen was born February 6, 1928, in Dike, Iowa the daughter of Cornelias and Gacina (Johnson) Freese. On March 10, 1948 she was united in marriage to Eldon Lee Rindels at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Ruth was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She was a member of the Dike United Methodist Church. Ruth enjoyed bird watching, baking, gardening and dancing to bluegrass music. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family especially her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her son; Dennis and his wife Lois Rindels of Dike; daughter, Diane and her husband Gary Loftus of Dike; 5 grandchildren: Ryan (Megan) Block, Adam (Amber) Block, Jared Block, Kari Rindels and Kyle Rindels; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Charles (IvaDean) Freese, Harold (Bonnie) Freese and Roger Freese and special friend Dee.

Preceding her in death were her parents; stepmother; husband: Eldon in 2004; a daughter-in-law: Sally Rindels in 1995.
