Services For Gladys Greany Thurs., March 5
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Greany, 76, of Grundy Center, will be held Thursday, March 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center.
Mrs. Greany passed away Monday evening, March 2, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Public visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 noon until 9 p.m. and prior to the services on Thursday.
Mrs. Greany is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kay D. and Marsha Greany of 7016 Townsend Ave., Des Moines.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Gladys Greany Services Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Greany were held on Thursday, March 5, at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor D. Ward Young of the United Methodist Church officiated.
Taped musical selections were played for the prelude and postlude.
The casket bearers were Gary Jensen, Robert Grabinski, Dale Grabinski, Donald Gonnerman, Steven Jensen and Jeffrey Laust. Mrs. William Sievert and Mrs. Roger Peters were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Mrs. Greany was born October 11, 1910, at Pearl City, IL and passed away at 5:23 p.m. Monday, March 2, 1987, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, where she had been a patient since February 27. She attained the age of 76 years, four months and 21 days.
Gladys was the daughter of Oliver and Etta Barklow Penticoff. As a young girl her family moved and made their home in Grundy Center. She graduated from the Grundy Center high school in 1928, after which she worked for several years at the George Smith Drug Store in Grundy Center.
On June 8, 1935, she was united in marriage to Sidney R. Greany at Aledo, IL. After their marriage, they lived on a farm in Orange township, south of Waterloo. In 1955, they moved and made their home in Grundy Center. She worked at the Farmers Savings Bank in Grundy Center for 13 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist church in Grundy Center, a past member of the Eastern Star and a member of the BPW, serving as president in 1961 and 1962.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Sid, on November 29, 1984; two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kay and Marsha Greany of Des Moines and by several nieces and nephews.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
