Hattie E. Mol, Age 91, Dies

Mrs. Hattie E. Mol, 91 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away Sunday at the Lakeland Nursing Home in Elkhorn.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, at the First Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Grundy Center.

She is survived by two sons, Henry R. Mol of Elkhorn, WI and James R. Mol of Corvallis, OR; five grandchildren; and one sister Priscilla Ramaker of Sioux Center.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Hattie E. Mol Services Held

Mrs. Hattie E. Mol, 91, died at the Lakeland Nursing Home in Elkhorn, WI, Sunday, April 19.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church at Grundy Center, Rev. Emmett Kelewae officiated. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

She was born August 14, 1895, in Sioux County, Iowa, the daughter of Evert and Hendrika Vermeer. She attended schools in School Center, and graduated from Hope College in Holland, MI, in 1920. She taught school in Kentucky and Wisconsin.

She married Henry L. Mol on December 24, 1923. They lived in Chicago and Des Moines until her husband finished his medical training, moving to Grundy Center in 1926. He continued his practice of medicine here until his death in 1952.

Mrs. Mol was active in the Fist Presbyterian Church where she was one of the first two women elders ordained in 1968. She also held offices in Presbyterial and Iowa Synod as well as local and state offices in the American Heart Association.

After Dr. Mol's death, Mrs. Mol worked in the office of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital until she moved to Corvallis, OR, in 1969. She moved to Delavan, WI, in 1983. At the time of her death she was a member of the First Congregational Church U.C.C. in Elkhorn.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Henry R. Mol, Elkhorn, WI, and James R. Mol of Corvallis, OR, five grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Priscilla Ramaker of Sioux Center, IA, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jo Graves of Cedar Falls.

Arrangements were made by the Betts Funeral Home at Elkhorn and the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center.
