Keith L. "Swede" Klar, 80, of Dike, Iowa passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. A memorial visitation will be held at 9:30 A.M. until time of memorial service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Dike United Methodist Church in Dike. Burial will follow the memorial service at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike with military honors being conducted by the Dike American Legion Post #471. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Keith was born on February 25, 1933 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Joe and Grace (Lindaman) Klar. He graduated from Grundy Center High School with the Class of 1951. Shortly after high school Keith joined the United States Air Force. He served four years and upon his honorable discharge he returned to Iowa and began working at the Rath Packing Company. Later he was employed at Midwest Turkey Hatchery where he worked until his retirement.

Keith was united in marriage to Jan Rohweder on August 31, 1959 in Gladbrook, Iowa. They made their home in Dike, Iowa and welcomed their son Doug and daughter Joni into their family.

Keith was an active member of the Dike United Methodist Church, Dike American Legion Post #471 and was a retired Volunteer Fireman. He loved to golf, fish, play cards and bike ride. He also loved his garden, but his true joy in life came from spending time with his friends and family, especially his three granddaughters.

Keith is survived by his wife Jan of Dike; son Doug (Mary) Klar of Isle, MN; daughter Joni (Brian) Boyer of Ankeny, IA and granddaughters Stephanie, Sydney and Halle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marlin Klar and sister-in-law Shirley Klar.
