The community was shocked when it became known that Douglas Jones, respected and well known citizen of Conrad, had passed away very suddenly on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 15, at 1:45 p.m. He was sitting on the bench north of the Walter Motor Co., where he was employed, enjoying a friendly conversation with S. E. Minard when he noticed that he was gradually leaning forward and when he spoke to him he received no answer. Help was summoned and they carried him into the office of the building and Dr. Gould was called but all that could be done was of no avail, death being due to apoplexy. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church on Friday afternoon and were largely attended by friends and neighbors. He leaves to mourn his untimely passing besides his devoted wife six children, Mrs. E. O. Carnes, Mrs. Ira Beeman, Mrs. John Dodd, Lester Jones and Elmer Jones, all of Conrad, and Arthur Jones of Waterloo.
The community extends its sincere sympathy to the sorrowing relatives who were so suddenly bereft.
