John M. Kaput, 96, of Conrad, IA, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Conrad United Methodist Church in Conrad. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Conrad Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes, 115 W. Grundy Ave, Conrad, Ia. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Conrad United Methodist Church.

John was born January 18, 1918, to Harm and Rachel (Kalkwarf) Kaput in Beaman, IA. He attended Grundy County Country Schools. John was united in marriage to Molly Mae Stover on August 28, 1940 at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center, IA. He farmed for over 50 years near Whitten, retiring in 1980.

John was an active member of the Methodist Church in Conrad. John valued helping others, he took pride in his farm and farming techniques. He enjoyed fishing and boating in Canada. John enjoyed teaching other fisherman how to clean Northerns.

John will be missed by his wife, Molly, two sons: Gary (Sandy) Kaput of Newton and Roger (Mary Ann) Kaput of Marshalltown; five grandchildren: Tara (Jason) Eintracht of Seattle, WA, Travis (Alma) Kaput of San Antonio, TX, Trisha Kaput of Chicago, IL, Drew Kaput of Grinnell, IA and Megan (Ryan) McGehee of State Center, IA; three great grandchildren: Landon and Brody Eintracht of Seattle and Nathan McGehee of State Center, and a nephew, Greg (Jean) Kaput of San Diego, CA.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Reinheart Kaput and a daughter-in-law, Anita Kaput.
