Junice Mae Hartke, 89, of Grundy Center passed away October 1, 2014, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center. As were her wishes, she will be cremated. A private family gathering and inurnment will be scheduled for a later date. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations in Junice’s name may be made to North Star Community Services, 3420 University Avenue, Waterloo , IA.

Junice Mae Gunnarson was born June 1, 1925, to Edgar and Edna (Henry) Gunnarson in Grundy Center. Junice married Louie Hartke Sr. July 27, 1946. She enjoyed sewing and quilting; everyone wanted one of Grandmas quilts. She was a Jehovah Witness and served him faithfully. Junice worked at the Grundy National Bank as a young girl before marrying and becoming a wonderful housewife, mother, and grandmother.

Junice is survived by three children: Teri Greiner of Traer, Louie Hartke Jr. of Morrison, and Tom Hartke of Cedar Falls; daughter-in-law, Lisa Hartke wife of David; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Louie Hartke Sr.; and son, David Hartke.
