H. L. Kliebenstein Passes Away Christmas Day

Had Been In Poor Health And Confined To Home The Past Few Months

43 Years in Grundy Center

Surrounded by His Loving Wife and Children He Passed to His Everlasting Rest

This community was saddened beyond measure when it was announced on the streets that Henry Kliebenstein had passed away on Christmas morn, following an illness of several months which had kept him confined the greater part of the time to his house.

Henry Louis Kliebenstein, son of Louis and Margaret Kliebenstein, was born March 7, 1846, and entered into his rest on Christmas day, Dec. 25th, 1923. For forty-three years he had been a resident of Grundy Center, having moved from Platteville, Wis., his boyhood home, to this place in 1880. At this latter place on the 19th of January, 1870, he was married to Mary Stark, and they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding three years ago. Into the family home were born six children: George, who died in infancy, Emma, Cora, (Elsie) Mrs. F. A. Danner, of Iowa City, Louis, of Waterloo and Ernest, of Des Moines. With the wife and mother they are comforted in their sorrow with the blessed memory of a devoted, loving father. Mr. Kliebenstein was a member of the First Presbyterian church since 1882, and until the very last a faithful worshipper there and a sincere Christian gentleman, whose spirit remained young and cheerful despite advancing years. He is survived by two brothers, Chris and John, of Platteville, Wis., his immediate family and a host of friends who, tho sorrowing at the broken ties, yet because of him, thank God and take courage.

The funeral services were held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon, Dec. 27th, 1923, at the family residence in Grundy Center, the Rev. Earl William Benbow of the Presbyterian church officiating, and burial was made in the city cemetery of this place.
