Death of Miss Mary Connell

Miss Mary Connell died Monday evening, Dec. 17th, 1923, at 7:10 o'clock at the home of her brother, Pat Connell, in this city, after an illness that confined her to her bed for a little more than a month past.

Mary Connell was born in county Waterford, Ireland, in 1851 and was in her sixty-ninth year.

She came to America in May, 1875, with her mother, brothers and sister, and settled near Delavan, Ill., where the family resided for a number of years. They then moved to near David City, Nebr., and resided there for several years.

Coming to Iowa about twenty-four years ago, she and her brother, Pat, settled on a farm a few miles south of Grundy Center, later moving to this city which has been her home ever since, she having always kept house for her brother, Pat.

She was all her life a faithful member of the Catholic church, and was held in the highest regards by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her death, three brothers and one sister, Pat and James of this city, William, near Beaman, and Mrs. Ed. Baldwin, of Grant township, this county.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church in this city Wednesday, Dec. 19th, 1923, at 10 o'clock a.m., Rev. Father E. J. McDonald officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery west of town.
