Mrs. John Loots Laid to Rest
Mrs. John Loots, whose death was briefly reported in last week's paper as having taken place at the hospital at Marshalltown was brought to her home here at which funeral services were held Monday and later at the Presbyterian church in Colfax township.
Thaalke Loots, nee Borgers, was born in Germany, Nov. 23, 1861. Coming to this country with her parents in 1866 she spent the greater part of her life in this county. She was united in holy wedlock with John Leison, her first husband, in 1887, who died in 1887. In 1900 she entered her second marriage with John Loots, who died last October. From this shock she never fully recovered, her health gradually failing and culminating in pernicious anemia. A week before her death she was taken to the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown, where after much suffering she passed away Aug. 2nd. Mrs. Loots was a woman of quiet disposition and never spoke ill of her neighbors; she had many friends.
The funeral took place from her home in Grundy Center last Monday, Rev. J. E. Drake officiating. The services, attended by a very large crowd, were held in the Presbyterian church of Colfax township, where interment took place beside her late husband and parents. There remain who mourn her death one sister, Mrs. N. Davids, of Montana; one brother, Mr. Borgers, of Garner, Iowa, a foster daughter, Mrs. J. Buskohl, of this county, two step-sons, George and John Loots, of this county, and three half-sisters.
Following are those from a distance who were present at the funeral:
Mrs. W. Leison, Forreston, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. W. Diekman, Allison, Iowa; Mr. George Loots, Manson, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. N. Davids, Broadview, Montana; Mr. and Mrs. B.
