William Alexander Weaver was born in Baltimore, Md., July 25, 1839, and passed away at Des Moines July 14, 1923, aged 83 years, 11 months and 19 days. He was the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Weaver. He came to Illinois at the age of 15 years. He was united in marriage with Sarah June Lamb in 1862, coming to Iowa in 1867. Here he settled in Grundy county and lived there until five years ago, going from there to live with his son, Oscar, in Des Moines, where he resided until his death.
Those preceding him in death were his wife, who passed away in 1899, and his son, John, March 4, 1913. Those surviving are three sons, Oscar, of Des Moines, and Frank and Wallace of Whitten, three grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was a devoted member of the M.E. church for 42 years.
The funeral services were held Monday, July 16th, at the M.E. church. Rev. Curless officiated.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were O. A. Weaver and wife, of Des Moines, Herb Weaver and family, of Ellsworth, Ia., N. J. Hursman and wife and son, of Wellsburg, Ia., and Mr. and Mrs. John Lister of Conrad, Iowa.
