Mrs. C. Weber Passes Away Very Suddenly

Sick But a Few Hours Her Death Was a Great Shock to Relatives

Symptoms of Poison Found

One of the saddest deaths that we have been obliged to chronicle for a long time was that of Mrs. Conrad Weber, living two miles east of Stout, who passed away at Sartori hospital, Cedar Falls, at three o'clock last Sunday, June 10th, 1923.

Mrs. Weber was in Stout Saturday evening and to all appearances was in her usual good health. Returning to her home at about nine thirty that evening she retired and seemed to enjoy a good night's rest until early morning when she awoke and complained of feeling badly. She arose, but soon became unconscious and remained in that condition until death. A physician was called and she was rushed to the hospital, but all efforts to revive her failed and she passed away a few hours later.

At this writing the cause of her death had not been fully ascertained. At first the physician thought it might be spinal meningitis, but later poison was discovered in her stomach and it is surmised that she had eaten something of a poisonous nature by mistake.

Mrs. Millie Weber was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zapf and was born in Grundy county August 14th, 1880, and at the time of her death was aged 42 years, 9 months and 27 days. She was married to Conrad Weber in 1903, and to them were born three sons and one daughter, who, with the husband and father are left to mourn this sudden and unexpected taking away of a kind and loving wife and mother. Other relatives are her aged mother, one brother, Edward Zapf, of Lincoln township, one sister, Mrs. John Weber, of Dike, besides other relatives.

The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends and neighbors in their great bereavement.

Funeral services were held from the church in Stout on Wednesday afternoon and interment was in the Stout cemetery.
