Koert Theerman was born in Ditzum, Ostfriesland, Germany, March 29th, 1847 and passed away at his home in Grundy Center, Iowa, on Apr. 24th, 1923, aged 76 years and 26 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Geertje Saathoff, of Pogum, Ostfriesland, Oct. 24th, 1875. This union was blessed with nine children, three of whom preceded the father to the great beyond.

On April 1st, 1881, they came to America and settled on a farm in Grundy county, Iowa, where they lived until about eleven years ago when they moved to Grundy Center and here they have lived since in a home on Bridge street.

Besides the wife, he leaves one son, five daughters, 16 grandchildren and one half-brother, besides many friends.
