Mr. James Patterson of Grundy Center, age 80, died Wednesday night at ?:30 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Margaret Salisbury, in Cedar Heights. He had been sick for the past two months with the grippe and heart complications, which caused his death.

Mr. Patterson was born in Trumbull county, Ohio, in 1843. Shen he was two years old the family moved to Dane county, Wisconsin, where he lived until 1868, when he came to Grundy county. In coming to Iowa, they drove thru crossing the Mississippi river at Dubuque on ice the first day of March.

Since coming to Iowa he has lived most of the time in Reinbeck and Grundy Center being engaged in the livery business.

He was married Dec. 25, 1864, to Jerusha A. Ingols in Dane county, Wis. One daughter, Mrs. Geo. Taylor, of Grundy Center, and four grandchildren also a sister, Mrs. Margaret Salisbury, of Cedar Heights, survive.

Funeral services were held at the home of his sister in Cedar Heights Saturday at 2 o'clock. Interment was at Lincoln cemetery 4 1/2 miles north east of Reinbeck.

Among those who attended the funeral from a distance were Miss Beulah Taylor of Fort Madison a granddaughter, Chas. Moore, McFarland, Wis. and Chas. Patterson, Cottage Grove, Wis., nephews, Mrs. Etta Dorrow, Osage, Iowa, also a relative.

Mr. and Mrs. John Wood, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Finlayson, Mrs. Jesse Robinson and daughter, Emma, from this place, also attended the funeral.
