John Fisher Dies In The Hospital

John R. Fisher died Monday at the Grundy hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in good health until he suffered a stroke and was taken to the hospital. He was 74 years old.

The body was taken to the Ferree funeral home where funeral arrangements were made. Services were held Wednesday afternoon at Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center, conducted by Rev. A. J. Straatmeyer. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mr. Fisher was born in Hardin county, August 10, 1891. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fisher. He and Leana Claassen were married at Steamboat Rock Dec. 22, 1917. The couple farmed in Hardin county for 20 years after which they moved to a farm near Toledo in Tama county where they resided for 25 years. They retired from the farm and moved to Grundy Center in August 1963.

Surviving are the wife, one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Wagoner of Grundy Center, two brothers are Arend Fisher, Steamboat Rock, and Julius Fisher of Boone. The sisters are Mrs. Claus Janssen and Mrs. George Primus, Steamboat Rock, Mrs. Will Schneck, Jefferson, Iowa, Mrs. Alfred Boll, Alert Lea, Minn. There are also three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
