Ernest Hasbrouck Dies at His Home

Ernest W. Hasbrouck died at his home in Grundy Center Tuesday morning. Had he lived until April 11th, he would have been 90 years old.

In 1949 he suffered a stroke which left him disabled during the remainder of his life. He was unable to walk after he had received the stroke and got about at his home in a wheelchair. He was a lifetime resident of Grundy county.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hasbrouck. Ernest Hasbrouck and Emma Beyer were married in Gladbrook, March 15, 1900. The couple farmed in Lincoln township after their marriage. They retired from the farm in 1930 and moved to Grundy Center, which was their home continually thereafter. After coming to town he followed the carpenter trade as long as he was able.

The body was taken to the Ferree Funeral Home where funeral arrangements were made. Services will be held in the funeral home Thursday afternoon, beginning at 1:30. The service will be conducted by Rev. Richard Johnson, pastor of the Baptist church at New Hartford. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Surviving are the wife, three daughters and one son. The daughters are Clarice, Mrs. Will Koobs, Beulah Hasbrouck, and LaVine Koobs, of Waterloo. The son Marlyn resides in New Hartford.

There are 10 surviving grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Marie, and one son, Guy E. Also one sister, a half-sister and a half-brother.
