S. Heronimus Dies At Ia. City Hospital

Sam Heronimus died at the University hospital at Iowa City about noon last Saturday. He had been a patient in the hospital 8 days. Death was due to complications of advanced age. He was 76 years old.

The body was brought to the Engelkes funeral home in Grundy Center where arrangements were made.

Services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday afternoon. The services will be conducted by Rev. Clyde VanWinkle pastor of the Christian Reformed church in Holland. Burial will be in the Colfax church cemetery.

Born in Colfax Twp.
Sam Heronimus was born on a farm in Colfax township and he grew up there. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Poppe Heronimus.

On December 14th, 1910, Sam Heronimus and Maggie Siefken were married. They resided on a Colfax township farm until a year after his wife died. The wife died in 1938. The following year he moved to the town of Holland. The past year and a half he was a resident in a nursing home in Cedar Falls for a year and a half before he was taken to the hospital.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters. The sons are Samuel G., Waterloo and Wilbur J., Waterloo. The daughters are Mrs. John K. Meester, Holland and Mrs. Julius J. Heikens, Holland. There are eight surviving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers survive. They are Heye Heronimus and Ben P. Heronimus of Holland. One surviving sister, Mrs. Irene Wicks, of Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, two brothers and one sister.
