Funeral Services For Jorgen Madsen

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Fredsville Lutheran church at 2:00 for Jorgen P. Madsen. Mr. Madsen, 80, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Friday in the Sartori hospital.

He was born Dec. 11, 1883 in Sjolland, Denmark, the son of Peter and Stine Madsen. He came to this country when he was 19 and settled in Cedar Falls area. August 19, 1920 he was married to Ida Christensen in the Fredsville Luth. church, of which he was a longtime member. Mr. Madsen farmed most of his adult life in the Dike area and retired to live in Dike about 15 years ago.

Services were conducted by Rev. Harald Sorensen. Vocalist was Mrs. Raymond Johnson and organist Mrs. Ralph Thuesen. Pall bearers were Lynn Engel, W. W. Parker, Fred Timmer, Harris Jorgensen, Russell Nielsen and Edwin Harrenstein. Mrs. Agnes Johnson, Mrs. Mary Sprole and Mrs. Tena Huisman were in charge of flowers.

Friends and relatives attending the services were from Cedar Falls, Dike, Waterloo, Grinnell, and Grand Meadow, Minn.

Herbert Jensen, a grandson, who is in the U.S. Army Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth, N.J. was also able to be here.

Survivors include his wife, a son, Harold, Dike, a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Elizabeth) Jensen, of Grand Meadow, Minn. and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
