Carsen Plaehn Dies At Age Of 92

Carsen Plaehn, pioneer Grundy county farmer, died Sunday evening at the age of 92 at the Good Samaritan nursing home at Jackson, Minn. Mrs. Plaehn and he had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery. The French funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Maggie Strohbehn and Carsen Plaehn were married at the home of Mrs. Plaehn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Strohbehn, near Reinbeck, January 31, 1894. Their entire married life had been spent on farms in Grant township and vicinity. Mr. Plaehn at one time was president of the bank at Dike and served on its board of directors for many years.

In addition to Mrs. Plaehn, surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Vernon Vance of Worthington, Minn.; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Roy, of Grundy Center, and Louis of Chaltham, N.J.
