Services Wed. For Mrs. Barfels

Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church, Grundy Center, for Mrs. Bertha Barfels, who died at the Grundy hospital on Monday. She was 80 years old. Rev. Duane Heap officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in the Reinbeck cemetery.

She was born Dec. 2, 1883, in Grundy county. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Marx Claussen of Reinbeck. She was united in marriage to Henry Barfels, Feb. 26, 1904. They spent their entire lifetime on the same farm southeast of Grundy Center.

Mrs. Barfels is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lee Weiss, and one son, Lester, both of Grundy Center, one sister, Mrs. Tillie Stange, Letcher, South Dakota; two brothers, Marcus Claussen and Edward Claussen of Reinbeck; also 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Barfels was preceded in death by her husband Henry, who died October 7, 1963; her parents, two sisters and one brother.

The Ferree Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Pallbearers were Marvin Barfels, Elmer Delfs, Jiles Eslinger, Elvin Boege, Clarence Claussen, John Lee Claussen.
