Mrs. Janssen Dies In Hospital Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Hermina Janssen, 68, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ with the Rev. John Schortinguis officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Special music for the service consisted of a duet by Marilyn Eilderts and Frederick Vanderwerf. Mrs. Vanderwerf was organist.

Casket bearers were George W. Boelman, George C. Boelman, Raymond Boelman, Folkert Boelman, Carl Boelman and Harm Kuper. Flower attendants were Mrs. John G. Abbas and Mrs. Henry Hippen.

We have gathered to honor the memory of Mrs. Hermina Janssen, who was called home Friday, Oct. 2, 1964 around 6:30 p.m. at the Grundy County Memorial hospital.

Mrs. Janssen was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Boelman on April 8, 1896 on a farm in German Township, Grundy County, Iowa. She received her education in a rural school. She reached the age of 68 years, 5 months and 24 days.

On February 2, 1919 she was married to Henry C. Janssen in the St. Peter's United Church of Christ by the Rev. H. E. Mueller. This marriage was blessed with 6 children. After their marriage they lived on a farm in Franklin County, and in 1929 moved to Pleasant Valley township. In 1936 they moved to Grundy Center where they lived for one year, after which they moved to a farm place in German township near Ackley. After the death of her husband she moved to Wellsburg in the year 1951.

Hermina Janssen was baptized in the St. Peter's United Church of Christ on April 24, 1898. She was a long time member of this church, and Women's Guild.

Mrs. Janssen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry C. Janssen on December 22, 1950, a son, George Louie on April 7, 1941, one grandson, Michael Boekhoff in 1954, and 4 brothers.

She is survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters: Chris Janssen of Prescott, Arizona; (Tillie) Mrs. Sam Boekhoff of Wellsburg; Louis Janssen of Wellsburg; Harley Janssen of Wellsburg; (Dorothy) Mrs. Cletus Jamison of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters and 2 brothers; Mrs. Fannie Boelman of Ackley, Mrs. Minnie Boelman of Aplington; (Tillie) Mrs. Edd Finger of Aplington; (Gertie) Mrs. Folkert Kuper of Ackley; George W. Boelman of Ackley, and Ben Boelman of Aplington.
