Henry L. Aswegan Dies In Hospital
Henry L. Aswegan, age 68, died at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital about 6:15 p.m. Monday evening, following a heart attack. He had been a patient at the hospital for one week.
Henry L. Aswegan was born in Beaver township, Grundy county, January 18, 1896, the youngest son of Luke and Grace Marks Aswegan. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Salem Lutheran church. He served in the Army during World War I.
He was married to Johanna Schiller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Schiller, at the home of her parents in Lincoln township, March 10, 1920.
They farmed north of Fern in Beaver township until retiring to Fern 10 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters: Mrs. Tunis Byl, Parkersburg; Harold Aswegan, Parkersburg, Mrs. Clifford Bergmann, Wellsburg; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Walterman, Cedar Falls.
He was preceded by his parents; 2 sons, 1 daughter, 1 grandson, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 half-brother.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 21, at 1:45 p.m. at Salem Lutheran church, preceded by a prayer service at the Engelkes Funeral Home at 1 p.m., Rev. Alfred Schumm officiating. Burial in the Salem Lutheran cemetery.
