Mrs. Will Kessler Dies At P'burg

Mrs. Will Kessler died last Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Witt at Parkersburg. She was 83 years old.

The body was brought to the Engelkes funeral home in Grundy Center. A family prayer service was held at the funeral home at 1:30 Monday, followed by a service in the Christian Reformed church at Holland. The services were conducted by Rev. Clyde VanWinkle. Burial was in the Holland cemetery.

Mrs. Kessler's maiden name was Angelina Poppen. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Goke Poppen. She was born on a farm in Colfax township Oct. 20th, 1880 and she grew up there.

On April 1st, 1901, Angelina and William H. Kessler were married. They farmed in South Dakota for three years after which they moved back to Grundy county and farmed in Colfax township several years. They quit farming in 1917 and moved to Holland. From 1939 to 1952 they resided on a small acreage near Holland. They moved to Grundy Center in 1952. The husband died a number of years ago.

She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Carl Witt, and Mrs. Fred Kalkwarf both of Parkersburg, Mrs. Tony Sinke, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Elmer and George both of Grundy Center, and LeRoy, Independence.

There are also ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. John J. Arends, Stout, and one step-sister, Mrs. Francis Klein, Newhall, Ia. She was preceded by her parents, husband, one daughter, three sons, two brothers and one sister.
