Services Friday For Mrs. John K. Dirks

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center for Mrs. John K. Dirks. Rev. A. J. Straatmeyer officiated at the service. Burial was in the Lincoln Center cemetery.

Mrs. Dirks, who died at her home in Grundy Center on Tuesday of last week, had been in failing health during the past four years due to diabetes. The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home where arrangements were made. The casket was taken from the funeral home to the church at noon on Friday. The casket was not opened after the services. She was 75 years old last April.

Mrs. Dirks was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Koert Theerman. She was born on a farm in Lincoln township and she grew up there. On February 23, 1910, she was married to John K. Dirks at the home of her parents. The couple resided on farms in Beaver and Lincoln townships until 1947 when they moved to Grundy Center which has since been their home.

Surviving are the husband, one son and two daughters. The son Harold resides on a farm near Grundy Center. The daughters are Mrs. Carl Boehm, Chester, Iowa, and Mrs. Marian Hohnbaum, Grundy Center.

There are three surviving sisters: Miss Jennie Theerman and Mrs. Louise Dieken, Grundy Center, and Mrs. Kate Copley, Reinbeck. There are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
