Albert Slickers Dies At Grundy Hosp.

Albert Slickers, who had been a resident of Grundy Center the past 36 years, died at five o'clock Sunday evening at the Grundy hospital, where he had been a patient for some time. Death was due to cancer. He was 77 years old.

The body was taken to the Ferree funeral home where arrangements were made. Services will be at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at the Christian Reformed church in Holland with Rev. Clyde VanWinkle officiating. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mr. Slickers was born at Orange City, Iowa, August 3, 1886, and he grew up there. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Slickers.

On September 14, 1908, Albert Slickers and Rieka Hofmeyer were married at Orange City. The couple moved to Grundy Center in 1928 and have since resided here. After moving to Grundy Center, Mr. Slickers became a salesman for the J. R. Watkins Company and he continued in that position until about a year and a half ago when his health started to fail. He was a member of the Christian Reformed church at Holland. He was one of the church elders and had charge of the music and the choir of the church as long as he was able.

Surviving are the wife, two daughters and three sons. The daughters are (Jeanette) Mrs. Myron Diehl, Grundy Center, and (Harriett) Mrs. Francis Harvey, Des Moines. The sons are Arthur Slickers, Waterloo; William T. Slickers, Sheridan, Wyoming; and Allen Slickers, Lafayette, Indiana. There are 13 grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Martin Schaferle of Eagle Grove; Mrs. John Slickers, Orange City, and Mrs. Raymond Jorgensen, Garwin.
