R. C. Holck Dies Last Thursday

Roy C. Holck, who was born in Grundy Center and grew up here, died last Thursday at Moline, Ill. He had moved from Waterloo to Moline only two months ago. He was 70 years old.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Holck, who for several years were a prominent family in Grundy Center. Theodore Holck was at one time postmaster in Grundy Center. That was during the administration of Grover Cleveland.

Roy graduated from the Grundy Center high school. On July 4, 1907, he married Lucile Brady at Iowa City. For a number of years Roy Holck was a Buick car dealer in Reinbeck. Later the family moved to Waterloo. He became an auditor for the state sales tax department, a position which he held for 30 years, up to the time of his retirement in 1957.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge and of the El Kahir shrine, Cedar Rapids, of the Elks Club, Waterloo, and of the Congregational church in Waterloo.

He is survived by his wife and one son, Claire, LaCrosse, Wis., and a daughter, Rose Marie. He was a member of a large family of brothers and sisters, none of whom survive.

The body was sent to Waterloo. Services were held Monday forenoon in the chapel of the Congregational church in Waterloo. Burial was in the family lot in the Grundy Center cemetery.
