Mrs. J. Smith Dies In Grundy Hospital

Mrs. Jack Smith of Grundy Center died Monday, May 25th, in the Grundy hospital. She had been in failing health for some time. The body was taken to the Ferree Funeral Home, where arrangements were made.

Funeral services will be at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Baptist church in Grundy Center with Rev. Calvin Rumley officiating. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was 76 years old. She was born June 29, 1888, in Grundy county, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Elliott. She grew up in the home of her parents. On January 1, 1910, she and Jack Smith were married. The couple resided on Black Hawk and Grundy county farms until 1937, when they moved to Grundy Center and lived here continually thereafter. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Baptist church and the W.R.C.

Surviving are the husband, one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Bee, and three grandchildren. Other surviving members of her family are three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Reisinger, Waterloo; Mrs. Paul Smith, Hudson; Mrs. Florence Wells, of Chino, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
