Mrs. Arend Miller Funeral On Friday

Mrs. Arend J. Miller, 52, life long resident of this area passed away Tuesday evening, May 12th, at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo where she had been confined since the first of the month following severe body burns.

Louise Flora DeNeui Miller was born to Albertus DeNeui and Hulda Schmidt DeNeui at a farm in Grundy county, east of Wellsburg on August 26, 1911. She later moved to Steamboat Rock with her parents and also attended school and grew to womanhood there.

On December 16, 1931 she was united in marriage with Arend J. Miller of Ackley. The couple lived on a farm seven and a half miles southeast of Ackley during their 32 years of marriage.

They became the parents of four children; Bertha Mae in 1946, Arnold Ray and Ronald Louis, twins, deceased shortly after birth in 1950 and Douglas Edward born in 1951.

Mrs. Miller was a faithful member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ. She was treasurer of the Women's Guild and a Sunday School teacher in this church. She was also a member of the German Township Homemakers Club.

In addition to her daughter and son, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Henry Gelder of Britt and Mrs. Raymond Potthoff of Jesup, also one brother, Allie DeNeui of Elmore, Minnesota, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister, Mrs. Elso Jansen and one brother, Alvin, and her twin sons already mentioned.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the family home and at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Mrs. Allen Spieker was organist. Music was given by Mr. and Mrs. Allen Spieker who sang accompanied by Miss Marilyn Eilderts.

Pall bearers were Henry Abbas, Henry Geiken, Duane Oelmann, Donald Oelmann, Wm. Rewerts and Thomas Sherrfield.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Duane Oelmann and Mrs. Thomas Sherfield. Ushers were Frederick Vanderwerf and Lester Riekens.
