Mrs. John Rockhill Succumbs in Missouri
Mrs. John D. Rockhill, the former Edith Cora Naumann of Conrad, passed away December 3 in St. Joseph, Missouri following an illness of several years.
Funeral services were held last Wednesday in the Conrad Methodist Church, with Rev. R. O. Grote in charge. Burial was in the Conrad cemetery.
Casket bearers were Harvey Price, Monroe Boswell, Merle Havens, John Gates, Harley Long and Theryl Gale. Special music for the service was provided by Mesdames A. J. Russie and Clyde Newton, accompanied by Miss Evelyn Stevens. Flower attendants were Mesdames Harvey Price and Harold Daggett.
Mrs. Rockhill, daughter of Fred and Amelia Naumann, was born February 8, 1876 at Marshalltown. When four years old the family moved to a farm southwest of Conrad, where she grew to womanhood.
She attended Iowa State Teachers College, and taught rural schools in Marshall and Grundy counties for three years. On January 23, 1901 she was united in marriage to John D. Rockhill. Mrs. Rockhill was a member of the Methodist church. She also was active for many years in Farm Bureau and 4-H work.
Survivors include one son, Norval, of Marshalltown; a daughter Mrs. W. M. McGee of St. Joseph; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
