John M. Meyer Dies Suddenly Last Thursday

Had Been In Usual Health Up To Time Of Retiring On Thursday Evening

Heart Trouble Cause Of Death

Was a Resident of Grundy County all His Life and Highly Respected Citizen

The Wellsburg community were shocked late last Thursday evening when it became known that John M. Meyer had passed away at his home in that city.

Mr. Meyer had been in his usual health up to the time of his death. On Thursday evening after eating his supper he joined a party of friends and spent some time pitching horseshoes and was in excellent spirits and showed no signs of sickness.

Returning to his home he retired about ten o'clock and a short time Mrs. Meyer heard him moaning and went to his bedside only to find him in the last throes of death.

Mr. Meyer was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Meyer, well known residents of the Wellsburg vicinity. He was born in this county about forty-one years ago and had lived here all his life. He was a man universally honored and respected by all who knew him as was evidenced by the large gathering of neighbors and friends who attended the funeral, one of the largest ever held in Wellsburg, on Monday.

Mr. Meyer leaves besides his wife and parents, three children and three sisters, Mrs. J. H. Meester, Mrs. Harm Frerichs and Mrs. Wessel Haack, all of Wellsburg, and one brother, Ausbrand, of Holland.
