Death of Mrs. John Schafer

Mrs. John Schafer died at her home in Wellsburg last Thursday morning following an illness of several weeks. Her husband died seven weeks before and from the date of his passing Mrs. Schafer failed gradually until the end came.

Funeral services were held at the Reformed church in Wellsburg last Saturday with Rev. Landsiedel as the officiating pastor. Burial was made in the family lot in the Wellsburg cemetery.

Mrs. Schafer was 68 years, 10 months and 15 days old at the time of her death. She was born in Loquard, Germany, and came to this country and to this county with her folks when she was 13 years old. Her maiden name was Hiska Loof. She was married here. Up to thirteen years ago the family made their home on a farm in Colfax township. At that time they moved to Wellsburg where they resided continually.

There are five surviving children. They are Arend, John and Henry. The two daughters, Jennie and Tena, have been at home.

Pallbearers at the funeral were W. E. Knock, Wm. Lindaman, H. S. Meyer, Henry Olthoff, John Meints and Tom Akkerman.
