Mrs. C. Neessen Died Wednesday At Wellsburg

Was Sick But A Week With Intestinal Flu; Funeral Services Will Be At Wellsburg Saturday

Mrs. Christ Neessen, an early resident of Grundy county, died at her home at Wellsburg at 6 o'clock Wednesday morning. She had been sick less than a week with intestinal flu. Her condition was not considered alarming until Tuesday night when her heart became affected. The news of her sudden death came as a shock to the many friends of the family.

Funeral services will be held at the home shortly after 12 o'clock Saturday afternoon and later at the Reformed church. The local pastor, Rev. Wm. Landsiedel, will have charge of the services.

Mrs. Neessen was 68 years old. She was born near Freeport, Ill., and came to Grundy county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claus Peters, when she was a small child, and resided in that community continually.

Following her marriage to Christ Neessen, the family resided on a farm north of Wellsburg. About sixteen years ago they built a fine home in Wellsburg in which they have resided since that time.

Surviving relatives are the husband, two sons and two daughters. The sons are Heiko and Claus, who live on farms near Wellsburg, Dena Neessen who is at home, and the youngest daughter, Mrs. John Masselink from Kalamazoo, Mich. There are two brothers, Simon Peters from Parkersburg and Claas Peters from Cedar Falls. The four sisters are Mrs. Henry Dudden, Grundy Center; Mrs. Carl Bergner, Pratt, Kansas; Mrs. Jake Wolff, Sibley; and Mrs. George Neessen, Wellsburg.
