Mrs. John M. Meyer Dead Following A Long Illness

Mrs. John M. Meyer died at her home in Wellsburg last Wednesday evening following an illness from cancer during the past year.

Funeral services were held in the Reformed church in Wellsburg Saturday afternoon. The seating capacity of the large church was all taken up during the services and many were not able to get within the church. Burial was in the family lot in the Wellsburg cemetery.

Mrs. Meyer was born in Colfax township, Grundy county, fifty years ago. All of her life was spent in the county. Her maiden name was Hilke Groote. She was married in 1904 to John M. Meyer. The family resided on a Colfax township farm until 1913 when they moved to Wellsburg. Mr. Meyer died in 1922.

Surviving relatives are two daughters and one son. The daughters are Mrs. Earl Streuber and Mrs. Orval Kramer and the son is Alfred, all residing in Wellsburg. There are two brothers, Elso Groote from Grundy and Harm Groote from Colfax township. There is one sister, Mrs. Wm. VanDeest.

Relatives and friends from a distance who were here for the funeral were Mrs. Ed Symens, from Ashton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Anger Lenning, the Misses Iola and Minnie Streuber and Mrs. Dick Wilson from Jewell, Iowa.
