Oldest Wellsburg Resident Dies At Abbott

Koene Reiter Would Have Been 95 Years Old Next June

Koene Reiter, the oldest person living in northwest Grundy, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sam Jaspers, at Abbott last Sunday. He had been sick but a short time. He had been at the Jaspers home but three weeks before death claimed him. Prior to that time he had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Lou Wulf, at Wellsburg.

Mr. Reiter was born in Germany. He came to Grundy county over fifty years ago and lived there continuously. For many years he was engaged in farming before he went into retirement in the town of Wellsburg. Had he lived until next June he would have been 95 years old.

There are four surviving sons and three daughters. The sons are Reint from Rushmore, Minn., Ubbe from Andover, S.D., Harm from Steamboat Rock, and Camp from Wellsburg. The daughters are Mrs. Sam Jaspers from Abbott, Mrs. Bert Reed from Iowa Falls and Mrs. Lou Wulf from Wellsburg.

Funeral services were held at the Reformed church at Wellsburg Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Landsiedel in charge. Burial was by the side of the wife in the Wellsburg cemetery.
