Almost all her life she lived in Grundy county where she spent her days of joy and sorrow. She was united in marriage to Henricus Behrends on Feb 16, 1891. Her health in her earlier and middle age of life was good, although she has had her ailments intermittently. In her advanced years she found her life less enjoyable. Her strength began to fail as complications were becoming increasingly dangerous in their threat to her physical constitution. For the last 8 years she was confined to her bed. During this bedfast circumstance she was cheerful and enjoyed the visits and associations of her friends, as well as passing her time in doing hand work. Her blessing was that she had the faithful and loving care of her only daughter, who has spent many precious moments in such sacrifice and devotion, and the assistance of her other dear ones was appreciated.

She was a charter member of the Wellsburg Reformed church and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid.

Surviving are two sons, Will of Lennox, So. Dak. and Henry of Stout; one daughter, Sadie, at home; one stepson, Ben at home; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many other relatives and friends. Her husband and an infant daughter preceded her in death.
