Henry Mommer Dies From A Heart Ailment

Henry G. Mommer died at 12:45 Monday morning from a heart ailment at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Olthoff, living southeast of Wellsburg. He had been in failing health since last March. The past two months he was taken care of at the home of his daughter. Prior to that time he lived in Cedar Falls.

During his active lifetime Henry Mommer was engaged in meat markets both as employee and owner. He was so employed in markets in Wellsburg, in Grundy Center, Cedar Falls, Waterloo and Ellsworth. His last employment was in a market at Cedar Falls. He was 57 years old last May.

Henry Mommer was born in Cedar Falls, May 1st, 1890, and he grew up there. He was married in Cedar Falls to Catherine Bruins. After their marriage the couple lived for several years in Wellsburg. His wife died Aug. 7, 1930. A daughter, Mrs. Raymond Garret, died at Conrad Dec. 28, 1945. His parents and one brother also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. John Olthoff, one son Harold from Marshalltown, and one sister, Mrs. Walter Bye from LeRoy, Minn. There are 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the John Olthoff home at 1 o'clock and later at the Reformed church in Wellsburg. The service was conducted by Rev. Edward Jurgens. Burial was by the side of the wife in the Reformed church cemetery.

Casket bearers were John E. Ruter, Leonard Schmidt, Harold O'Kones, LeRoy Lutterman, Henry C. Nederhoff, Henry O'Kones.
